Strategic Alliance - CMA Alberta and CMC-Canada

CMA Alberta and CMC-Canada have entered into an important strategic alliance. What does this mean for you? They are offering a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) Designation Program. The program includes the Essentials of Management Consulting (EMC), Ethical Behaviour, and Understanding Project Management courses.The other required course compentencies -- Personal and Interpersonal -- are already recognized as part of the CMA designation.


How to Earn the Certified Management Consultant Designation

To find out how to earn the CMC designation, click on the Stream below that applies to you:

  • CMA Professional Stream: For those with at least two years of management consulting experience, including the immediate past 12 months and one year of mentorship by a CMA/CMC, along with two CMC-Canada sponsors. All CMA Alberta members would be accepted into the Professional Stream by the CMC-Alberta Institute.
  • Executive Stream: For those with executive experience, as follows:
    • Criterion 1: All candidates to the executive stream must hold an executive position in a consultancy at the time of application.
    • EITHER: Criterion 2a: Candidates might be career consultants or those transitioning from industry. Career consultants must have a minimum 10 years executive experience.
    • OR: Criterion 2b: Candidates transitioning from industry must have a minimum of 15 years of executive experience. This must include 3 years of consulting experience including the past 12 months in a practice leadership capacity.
    • Criterion 3: Candidates should display "breadth of knowledge" demonstrated by work experience in more than one sector or functional area OR by an undergraduate degree or equivalent.
