| The Government Special Interest Group invites you to a stimulating session on Open for Business - the Ontario Government’s ambitious three-year initiative to create faster, smarter and streamlined government-to-business services that make Ontario more attractive for business development while protecting the public interest. It also seeks to transform the Ontario government-to-business relationship. Open for Business will serve as a foundation to the government's Five-Point Economic Plan to create a stronger and more prosperous Ontario. To achieve this goal, action will be taken in three key areas:

Biography As Associate Deputy Minister with the Ministry of Economic Development, Gail Paech has gained a reputation for her ability to head up large-scale, provincial initiatives that result in system transformation. Previously she was Assistant Deputy Minister of eHealth from 2006 to Sept 2008 and was responsible for developing the government approved eHealth Strategy. In earlier work with the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care, Gail developed the migration plan to transfer OHIP services to Service Ontario. As a member of the Health Results Team, she was responsible for establishing 14 Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) across Ontario. Prior to that, she led the Long-Term Care Redevelopment Project that created 36,000 new long-term care beds in the province. In 2003, Gail coordinated the government’s response to the SARS emergency and directed the work of the Walker Panel which made extensive recommendations to strengthen the province's ability to respond to future health emergencies. Gail also led the Health Sector Year 2000 Project office that ensured that the broader health sector was prepared for the Year 2000. Before joining the provincial government, Gail was the CEO and President of the Toronto East General Hospital from 1991-1998 and over the past 30 years has held a variety of senior positions in education, research, management and consulting. She is Assistant Professor, University of Toronto, Faculty of Nursing, and Assistant Professor, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Health Policy Management and Education. |

Cancellation Policy Cancellations received in writing before noon on November 20, 2009 will be refunded the full amount, minus a $10.00 handling fee. No refunds will be issued after noon on November 20, 2009. Registrants may send a substitute attendee, with appropriate fee adjustment. No credits are given for late notices or "no-shows". In the unlikely case that the event has to be cancelled, registration fees will be fully refunded.
