Aspects to Consider for Retirement Planning
The GTA Chapter welcomes Mariana Saenz and Ermos Erotocritou, CFP, CPCA to our network & learn event on September 14th to discuss retirement planning.
Most professionals work to accumulate assets in preparation for retirement one day – this is the goal of investment planning, to grow wealth. Retirement planning is very different. Once we reach retirement, our goal is not necessarily to grow our portfolio, but to make sure we do not outlive it.
Canadians entering retirement today will need, on average, 30 to 35 years of income. How does a retiree determine an amount to spend every year? In what order should assets be withdrawn from taxable and tax-preferred income sources? What role does inflation play in a retiree's purchasing power? How does the sequence of investment returns affect retirement income?
Mariana and Ermos discuss different aspects to consider before and after retirement. This is a topic of which everyone should be aware; it is a session you won't want to miss!
