A Message from CMC-Canada’s Executive Director: Year-End Review and Celebration of Achievements

By: Donna Ringrose

As we approach the close of 2023, I am pleased to reflect on the remarkable journey we have undertaken together as a community. This year has been one of unprecedented growth and accomplishment for CMC-Canada, and I am delighted to share some of the key highlights that have shaped our success.

1. Expanded Interest in Certification
Our commitment to promoting the value of the CMC designation has led to a remarkable response. We have welcomed an impressive 123 candidates into the certification process in 2023. We also have a total of 200 candidates actively progressing on their journey towards becoming Certified Management Consultants (CMCs). This accomplishment underscores the ever-increasing relevance and desirability of the CMC designation, marking a significant milestone in our collective journey.

2. Strategic Partnerships and Collaborations
This year witnessed a significant expansion of our partnerships, particularly with large firms, including a joint statement with MNP. These collaborations have strengthened our network, broadened our reach, and laid the foundation for future growth and opportunities.

3. Advocacy on the National Stage
Our commitment to advocating for the interests of CMCs reached new heights in 2023. Regular meetings with key decision-makers, including MPs and Policy Directors on Parliament Hill, have allowed us to amplify our voice and contribute meaningfully to shaping policies that impact our profession.

4. Enhanced Online Experience
In 2023, we dedicated ourselves to improving your online experience with CMC-Canada. The launch of numerous updates and new web pages, such as "Why Hire a CMC" and "Becoming a CMC," has not only modernized our digital presence but has also streamlined the user experience, making it more intuitive and informative for all.

5. MAS Project Milestone:
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of MAS, we have successfully grown the program for a 4th straight year providing more value to both CMCs and clients. We have successfully administered 120 Management Advisory Service projects to date – a sell out! This milestone underscores our commitment to delivering high-quality consulting services from CMCs and contributing to the success of clients across Canada.

6. New Affinity Partnerships
In our ongoing efforts to provide additional value to our members, we are thrilled to announce new partnerships with belairdirect, Johnson Insurance, Bell, and Csek Creative as our Affinity Partners. These collaborations aim to bring exclusive benefits and opportunities to our esteemed members.

7. Academic Partners
Our focus continues on building the future of the management consulting profession. We saw great strides in growing our Academic Partner Program with many great conversations with like-minded post-secondary institutions who are interested in instilling the values of the CMC designation within the core of their programs. We expanded our partnership with University of Ottawa's Telfer School of Management, providing students with an enhanced opportunity to earn the most possible credits towards their CMC designation.

As we look back on these accomplishments, I want to express my sincere gratitude to each member, partner, and volunteer who has played a role in making 2023 a transformative year for CMC-Canada. Your dedication and enthusiasm have been the driving force behind our success.

As we step into a new year filled with promise and opportunities, I am confident that our collective efforts will continue to elevate CMC-Canada and the CMC designation to new heights. Together, we will shape the future of management consulting and foster a thriving community that inspires excellence.

I wish to recognize and thank our National Board of Directors who work diligently to ensure this organization is thriving and evolving while always prioritizing the CMC designation and its members. Their invaluable time and devotion is yielding exciting results and I look forward to continued progression with you all in the new year.

Finally, a special thank you to the National Office staff – Allison, Marsha, Jordan, Janine, Jouset and Ron for making this year a success. Your hard work and dedication to this organization is unmatched and appreciated by all.

Wishing you all a joyous holiday season and a prosperous New Year!

Warm regards,

Donna Ringrose
