A Message from Donna Ringrose,

Executive Director, CMC-Canada

FebRUARY 25, 2021

It is my sincere pleasure to connect with you today. I would like to provide you with an update on what our team at National Office has been focusing on and offer a glimpse of what to expect from your association this coming year.

As I begin, I would like to acknowledge the challenging year we have been navigating. The pandemic has tested us all, both personally and professionally, in ways we could never have imagined. As challenging as this time has been, we can take away the positives we have had no choice to adjust to as we move forward and persevere. I am optimistic that we will come out stronger, together!

As a profession, I believe we have been presented with a very unique opportunity to position ourselves as an invaluable partner in the marketplace for people and organizations determined to come out of this stronger. Who better to assist them on this path forward than a Certified Management Consultant.

With that in mind, and with our strategic initiatives guiding us, we are focusing our efforts on growing our community, enhancing membership value, and advocating for the profession. We believe now more than ever that CMC-Canada plays a key role in the consulting profession, and we will be advocating this message coherently and collectively across the country.

With the support of the National Board, Certifying Institutes and the many volunteers, we have been able to reinstate the National Advocacy Committee whose mandate is to advocate for the profession and the designation with one unified voice. The participation within the various committees, special task forces and groups have been overwhelmingly positive. The contribution is invigorating, and we are moving forward, together.

It is no secret that we must grow as an association, and we must grow now. Everything we do this year, and in the future, will be to support this objective. As Leigh Harris, CMC-Canada Chair, said at last year’s AGM:

“We represent in many ways the workforce of the future – professional management consultants practicing in sole proprietorship, as small and medium sized enterprises and in large multi-national and global firms. The thirst for ethical, professional, transparent and value-contributing practice is insatiable and it continues to rise – let’s continue to raise the bar and lead the next wave.”

Things to be on the lookout for…

You have spoken, and we are listening. The team at National Office, in collaboration with our Certifying Institutes (your fellow members), have been busy developing programs and processes to better support our members and enhance value.

Here is what you can look forward to:

Community Groups, comprised of special interest areas for all members to engage, collaborate, share and learn from one another.

Career Center: Looking to expand your team, or seeking new opportunities? Our Career Centre will provide you access to view/input CVs, receive automated notifications as new opportunities arise and much more!

Mentorship Program: Your experience is valued, and we want to provide opportunities for you to get involved and give back to the profession. You can connect with up-and-coming CMCs (Students and Associates alike) who are looking to understand, pursue or advance their career in consulting. Retired? We need you! Stay connected with your peers and share your knowledge of the profession.

IRAP CMC-Training: In partnership with the National Research Council of Canada, CMCs have access to programs exclusively offered to certified members. The IRAP (Management Advisory Service) program supports small and medium sized organizations access advisory services.

Recruit-a-Member Program: This is one of those collaborative efforts that requires all of us working together – members don’t just join an association or a designation, they join others they respect and want to stand shoulder to shoulder with. Every single member is the best source of attracting more members. Let’s elevate the management consulting profession together!

PD and Events: Online Professional Development with worldwide recognized ISO 20700 training. Book Clubs, Happy Hours, Networking Events hosted by the Certifying Institutes. More to come in 2021!
